Mothers Sharing Breastmilk

"We can forsee a time when women protect each other and help one another feed their babies, so that every mother feels whole and no mother feels broken or that her body is failing her" - www.hm4hb.net/about-us

According to a joint statement by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF): "The best food for a baby who cannot be breastfed is milk expressed from the mother's breast or from another healthy mother. The best food for any baby whose own mother's milk is not available is the breast milk of another healthy mother" (UNICEF, p. 48).

Why then are we handing our money over to massive conglomerates who put profit first, over the health of our babies, making ourselves and each other feel terrible for doing so, instead of supporting and valuing each other and each Mother in our communities?

Many people's initial thought is that breast milk from another Mother may not be 'safe' or screened, so that formula is the best choice. If you believe that formula milk is risk-free, then you may find it interesting to do some research.
